From One Sewing Machine to a Vision for Accessible African Fashion

Gcogco Clothing Studio was founded in 2013 by our Creative Director and founder, Nomgcobo Tukulula, from a simple beginning and a deep passion for fashion and design.

What started with a small domestic sewing machine has grown into a clothing studio with a workshop and showroom in Cape Town. But our journey has never been only about growing a business. It has always been about creating clothing that makes people feel confident, beautiful and proud of who they are.

At Gcogco, we believe that beautifully designed clothing should not be something that only a few people can afford. One of the reasons behind our journey into clothing design was the desire to create garments that are *beautiful, thoughtfully designed and accessible*.

We want someone who has always dreamed of wearing a designer garment to be able to walk into our boutique and find something designed with care, without feeling that good fashion is beyond their reach.

Community and Culture

Gcogco Clothing Studio is proudly based in Cape Town, South Africa, and our journey is closely connected to our community. As we grow, we want Gcogco to create more than garments. We want to create opportunities. Through skills development, training and practical exposure to the clothing industry, we aim to contribute to the development of young people and create pathways into employment and entrepreneurship. We believe that when a business grows, it should also create opportunities for others to grow.
